This is a vivid and deeply moving collection, full of poems that press on all the aches and shades of loss of people, of place, of myths. Here, you will find an essential cartography for moving through, and bearing witness to, the cyclic tides of grief and hope and all the creatures that inhabit there between.

William Soutar: Collected Works (Published Poetry) reintroduces one of Scotland’s most significant twentieth-century poets, a champion of Scots, pacifist visionary and forerunner of ecopoetics whose achievement has long been overlooked. This two-volume edition of his published poetry showcases his striking lyric gift in poems of love and community, war and mortality. Soutar was bed-bound by illness for the last fourteen years of his life. His work is testament to his creativity and resilience in the face of adversity.
